We are officially 6 days away from the 40th Annual MAAWLE Training Conference! We are so excited to welcome everyone to Towson and cannot wait to celebrate this very special milestone with all of you. This year’s conference is extra special as we celebrate 40 years of MAAWLE, and we are honored that the women of the Baltimore County Police Department are hosting this year’s conference. There is a lot planned, so please take a few minutes to read through the important information below.
Please note, there is additional information included beside what your chairwomen previously shared. I highlighted it for those that already received the information!
Sheraton Hotel Reservations: If you still need to make a hotel reservation, the government rate is still available at the Sheraton. Please note that you cannot book the government rate online. You must call the Sheraton directly at 410-321-7400 and let them know you are attending the MAAWLE Conference to receive the rate.
Do you still need to register? It is not too late!
Make sure that you register through the Zeffy website, so you have an easy registration process! If you RSVP’d on the MAAWLE website, make sure you officially register through the link above.
Sunday, October 11 – Optional Duckpin Bowling Tournament: We will kick off the week with an optional pre-registration Duckpin Bowling Tournament on Sunday, October 11, from 12:00–3:00 p.m. The cost is $20 per person, and payment can be made through Venmo at @maawle-2026. If you are part of a team, please let us know your team name and members. You may also pay cash at the bowling alley, but please RSVP to Dee at 443-527-6459 so we can plan accordingly. There will be some very special awards for this tournament!
Sunday Registration: Conference registration will take place at the Sheraton on Sunday, October 11, from 4:00–7:00 p.m, in front of the Warfields Ballroom. If you are unable to register on Sunday, please make every effort to register by 8:15 a.m. Monday morning so that everyone can be seated in the ballroom by 8:45 a.m. and we can get the conference started on time.
Monday Dress: Monday’s attire will be your dress uniform or professional business attire. Following the awards ceremony, we will take a group photo, and there will also be an opportunity for department and small-group photos. We ask that everyone remain in their dress uniform for our keynote speaker, Paralympic Gold Medalist Jessica Long. You will have the incredible opportunity to have photos taken with Jessica and her gold medals!
HONOR GUARD - We are still looking for a few members to join the honor guard for Monday's Opening Ceremony! If you are concerned that you are not in your department's honor guard, NOT TO WORRY. Tammy Russell will be holding a practice Monday Morning prior to the ceremony to ensure that you feel comfortable! Tammy will have all the equipment, all you need is you, in your uniform. If you are interested in joining the honor guard, please contact Tammy Russell at 703-477-3480.
Monday Night Networking Event: Our Monday night networking event will be held at The Rec Room in Towson, from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. We will have live music by Mama’s Black Sheep, along with appetizers and a drink for everyone. If you have never seen Mama’s Black Sheep before, let’s have a little fun Ashlyn-style and wear your favorite cowboy hat!
Tactical Tuesday: For Tactical Tuesday, you will not need a weapon or ammunition. All of the activities will be practical exercises and/or simulation-based, so just come ready to participate and have some fun while learning!
Diamond League Excursion: Our Diamond League excursion for our retirees will be an insider tour of the Under Armour Global Headquarters on Tuesday morning. Retirees will meet in the front circle of the hotel at 8:15 am.. Our retirees will return in time for lunch and the afternoon case study presentation.
40th Anniversary Gala: Our 40th Anniversary Gala will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00–10:00 p.m. The evening will include appetizers, dinner, dessert, and an open bar as we celebrate 40 years of MAAWLE and the incredible women who have helped make this organization what it is today. Dress to impress for this special occasion! (A ticket to the Gala is not included in single-day registration(s), only full-conference registrations.)
Gala Guests: If you would like to bring a guest who is not a fully registered conference attendee, you may purchase a Gala Guest Ticket for $100. Raffles: We will have lots of raffles throughout the conference, and raffle tickets can be purchased with Venmo or cash. If you plan on bringing a basket or raffle item to the conference, please text Dee at 443-527-6459 with a description and photo of the item or basket so we can plan accordingly.
Special Challenge Coin Raffle: This year, we will have a very special challenge coin raffle! For every unique challenge coin you enter into the drawing, you will receive one raffle ticket. We ask that if there are multiple attendees from the same agency, you please coordinate with one another and do not duplicate coins. One lucky raffle ticket will be drawn, and the winner will receive ALL of the challenge coins, along with a beautiful, large Thin Blue Line wooden flag challenge coin holder. This is definitely one raffle you won't want to miss!
Vendors: We will have lots of vendors joining us on Tuesday and Wednesday, giving you the opportunity to shop and purchase some unique and fun items. Who knows—you may even leave with permanent jewelry or a new tattoo! Be sure to check out the vendors and support the businesses that are supporting MAAWLE.
Signal App: To help us stay connected throughout the conference and share important information, updates and reminders, we will be using the Signal app. Please download the app and join the group which is below. We will begin sharing important conference information there as we get closer to the conference.
Day Pass & Vendor Registrations: If you are attending the conference as a day-pass attendee or vendor, please remember that these registrations do not include the evening activities. Evening events, including the Monday night networking event and Wednesday night 40th Anniversary Gala, are separate from day passes and vendor registration. If you would like to participate in the Gala, a separate Gala Guest Ticket must be purchased.
