President's Letter, Announcement from Annapolis, and Honor Guard request!

Dear MAAWLE Members,

WOW – I miss each of you and I cannot wait until we arrive in Annapolis to reconnect, train, and celebrate the wonderful qualities that make you the finest members of the law enforcement

community. I also cannot wait to have an election for ALL the MAAWLE Executive Board positions. This is my personal invitation to consider running for one of the positions – President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Social Media/Outreach. As of 8/3/2023 we currently have the following declarations:

President – 1 Candidates (Incumbent)

Vice President – 2 Candidates (Incumbent; New)

Secretary – 1 Candidate (Incumbent)

Treasurer – 1 Candidate (New)

Social Media/Outreach – Open

What is the process? Declare your intention to run for an office via email to Secretary Ali Gontowski (MAAWLESecretary@gmail.com) on or before close of business on August 12th , 2023. During the annual Business Meeting you will have the opportunity to address the MAAWLE Membership seeking their support and vote. Questions? Feel free to reach out to any of the Board members.

See you soon,

Angie

MAAWLE President

CALLING ALL HONOR GUARD MEMBERS!!!

We need assistance with the posting of colors at the conference. You do NOT need to be a current member of your department's Honor Guard/Color Guard, you just need to have a uniform and be willing to represent your department, yourself, and this amazing organization at our ceremony on the Monday of the conference.

If you are interested or have questions, please respond directly to MPO Tammy Russell at tammy.russell@fairfaxcounty.gov and/or (571)279-1991.

Straight from Annapolis:

Tomorrow is the last day for registration so we can get shirts ordered. Also, we know how agencies can be with delayed registration so reach out to Amanda Benson if you are for sure coming but there is a delay in processing through your agency we will work it out.

Amanda Benson has also had agencies reach out to her to donate items for raffles - if you’re interested in doing so text her at (412)496-0958 or her email is ambenson@annapolis.gov. We are excited to see everyone next month!
