Educate - Empower - Evolve
36th Annual Training Conference
North Wildwood showed us a few rays of sunshine, some highly esteemed speakers, and an abundance of connection. Throughout the week, I couldn't have been more proud of the mentorship, collaboration, and genuine support I saw you all have for one another. Every year I show up, I leave refreshed and reminded why this organization is one of the best surprises I've come across in my career. There were so many "aha" moments throughout the week for me, inside and outside of the classroom. In particular, the quote "playing small does not serve the world" struck me on such a deeper level. I had found myself in a season of my career where I thought that if I just stayed beneath the radar, I could just keep showing up and that would be enough. What this week highlighted for me is that while that's okay to do, it's not a place I want to stay. It lit a fire up under me and reunited me with my own "why". I came back to work the following day feeling just a little more right, and I have you all to thank for that. Enough about me though, let's talk about the good stuff!

Scholarship Opportunities
Don't forget, we have scholarship opportunities for education and for NAWLEE. While speaking about the Cheney scholarship, Mr. and Mrs. Cheney's information was requested by a few of our members. Mr. and Mrs. Cheney LOVE letters and cards, and they certainly have contributed a lot to our organization. If you think of it, please send them a kind note: 3901 Trickling Brook Dr, Richmond, VA 23228 or rpcheney@verizon.net.
In Closing
Since I'm hitting home all the points of togetherness, I wanted to touch on another website feature we have, which is through the app "Spaces" by Wix. It allows you to see our website content, get updates from blogs like this, and more easily connect with one another. For more information, follow this link: https://support.wix.com/en/article/spaces-by-wix-an-overview
Please share your experiences with your fellow women in law enforcement - and start thinking of nominations for awards next year! https://www.maawle.org/projects-3. We know each other well, and we know heroic work is being done out there.
Feel free to submit great things about one another (promotions, retirements, etc.) so I can include them in the newsletter! Don't forget to follow us on social media: https://www.facebook.com/groups/103113955240
Thank you all,
